Frequently Asked Questions : Graduating Students
Friday, December 18 at 2:00pm at the SUMC Tucson & Catalina Rooms. Doors open at 1:15 pm. Graduating students check-in instructions will be sent to their UA email.
An RSVP form will be emailed to graduating students.
The College of Science has a separate RSVP process, information sent to students via email. Refer to information on the College of Science Convocation page.

Graduating students may bring up to two (2) guests to the Computer Science Graduation Celebration. After the RSVP deadline, graduating students will be notified if there are any extra tickets for additional guests.
Open seating, you may sit with your guests.
There is no formal dress code for the Computer Science Graduation Celebration. Regalia is optional, and graduates typically wear business casual attire or regalia if participating in other ceremonies.
The Computer Science Graduation Celebration will not include a processional. However, each graduate will still be individually recognized. A personalized slide will be displayed with your name, academic information (major, minor, certificate), your post-UA plans, and a quote and/or text you wish to provide to share with others (thank you, shoutouts, etc.). Graduating students will receive a token from the department to signify your entry into an exclusive group : "UA CS Alumni".
Diplomas are sent out to students by the University of Arizona, after conferral and posting of degrees. Refer to Diploma Information.
Yes, CS staff members will be taking pictures throughout the event. Graduating students will be emailed a link to a folder with pictures.

Beginning this year, the College of Science will no longer host a separate Fall/ Winter graduation ceremony. Instead, students graduating in the Fall/ Winter will have the opportunity to participate in the College of Science Spring Convocation, joining their fellow College of Science graduates for a larger celebration of this important achievement.
The University of Arizona Commencement occurs in Spring. Fall/Winter graduating students are invited to attend/return for the UA Commencement in Spring. Information about UA Commencement can be found at https://commencement.arizona.edu/ .

The closest parking garage to the SUMC is the 2nd St Parking Garage, although space availability may be limited during this time. View the UA Campus Map, adding the parking and transportation layer.

No, there will not be physical programs available during the ceremony. A digital version will be available - accessible via QR code during the ceremony and sent to graduating students after the ceremony.
Guests can bring balloons and flowers to the Computer Science Graduation Celebration. There will be a "parking lot" designated for balloons - to help avoid obstructing the view of the front/stage.
The ceremony is expected to take approximately 1-1.5 hrs.
A clear bag policy is in effect for all attendees.

You are welcome to bring a poster (or other signage) commemorating your student for pictures after the ceremony. We will have a parking spot for your poster and other signage.
Noisemakers are not permitted.
Doors open at 1:15pm. We recommend arriving on or before 1:15pm.
We do plan to livestream and record the Graduation Celebration. Check back as the event approaches for updates.
