Sandra Bae develops theories and tools for understanding and creating data representations across digital, physical, and immersive media. She draws on cognitive and perceptual methods, artificial intelligence, sensing and adaptive systems, and computational fabrication. Her work examines how people understand representations, how representations can respond to human intent and context, and how new representations can be physically and computationally realized. Her broader goal is to establish principles that explain how different choices in data representation support different forms of human reasoning.
