About Me

My name is Valeria, though most students know me as V. I am a proud Tucson native and a two-time graduate of the University of Arizona, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Middle Eastern and North African Studies and Latin American Studies in 2015, followed by a Master of Arts in Library and Information Science in 2017.

My professional career at the University of Arizona has spanned several departments and roles focused on student success, recruitment, career development, and community engagement. Prior to joining the Department of Computer Science, I worked with Enrollment Management and Student Affairs Advancement, where I coordinated recruitment and donor events for prospective students, families, and high school counselors from across the country. I later joined the Institute of the Environment, managing space utilization at ENR2 and providing tours highlighting the building's innovative sustainable design features.

Before transitioning to Computer Science, I served as the Career Development Coordinator for the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Career Center, helping students connect their academic experiences to meaningful career opportunities and develop the professional skills needed for success after graduation.

Today, I serve as the Career Development Coordinator for the Department of Computer Science. In this role, I work closely with undergraduate and graduate students to support career exploration, internship and job searches, professional development, employer engagement, and experiential learning opportunities. My passion for public higher education and student success drives my commitment to helping students build confidence, develop career readiness skills, and achieve their personal and professional goals.
