Tina Mendoza receives the 2024 College of Science Staff Excellence Award!

Please join us as we congratulate Tina Mendoza for receiving the College of Science Staff Excellence Award for the academic year 2023-2024. 

Individuals receiving this award are nominated by the department head and direct supervisor for performing job duties above and beyond what is normally expected, improving efficiency in the workplace, and demonstrating, through attitude and actions, a willingness to help others and work as a team. 

Highlights from nomination:

• Tina is a tireless advocate for our students. Students know they can come to Tina to discuss their concerns/issues and look for solutions/paths forward, celebrate successes, and make things better.
• Tina is a person that anyone in the department/university can work with. She is always willing to collaborate - even to the point of sacrificing her personal time - often working after hours/late into the night and on weekends.
• Tina is immensely talented at her job. She is extremely knowledgeable about the requirements and processes pertaining to graduate students, both within the computer science department and higher up through the university. She provides outstanding guidance to the faculty on a wide range of issues, including special circumstances regarding individual students and proposed changes to our program or processes. I have found her input to be extremely valuable.
