Biography

I was born and grown up in Suzhou, which is a city famous for silk and traditional Chinese garden located in the eastern part of China. I got my B.E. in Software Engineering at the Nanjing University. After my graduation, I worked in the industry for two years in Shanghai. When I got bored with dealing with daily routine of work, I decided to purse a higher level education abroad. So I entered the University of Washington, Tacoma for a master's degree in Computer Science, where I found my interest in Machine Learning. And now I'm the first year CS Ph.D. student working with Prof. Jason Pacheco at the UA.

My research interest is Machine Learning.

What long-term project do you want to work on?

Currently, I'm working on extending the discrete information-theoretical decision making to the continuous space.

What do you enjoy most about your work?

Learning new knowledge and taking on the challenges.

What are your career goals?

I want to work in research labs in industry for several years after getting my Ph.D. degree and then see what I need to do next. Probably I'll start up my own business after that.

I'm interested in basketball, a big fan of Kobe Bryant. History is also one of my favorite subjects, so I'm also quite into those history-based strategic games. I also have a snowboarding fever. Waiting for the winter coming.
