Martin Marquez

About Me

I joined the Department of Computer Science in February 2020. Prior to my role as Director of Academic and Support Services, I worked in the Office of Curricular Affairs as Interim Director and in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry as Senior Academic Advisor. I have previously taught 8th grade science at Crane Middle School and Biology at Gila Ridge High School in Yuma, Arizona. I earned a BS in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from the University of Arizona and an MEd in Educational Administration and Supervision from Arizona State University. 

My primary role in the department is to lead and supervise the Academic Services Office. I am responsible for setting strategic goals and initiatives for Academic Services Office, ensuring that needs and priorities of students, faculty, and staff are being met. I enjoy meeting with and interviewing students, faculty, and staff. Among my  responsibilities, one of favorite is telling the stories of the CS department so others can learn about the great people of the department. 

In my free time, I enjoy being outdoors with Jenn (wife), children (Sophie, Zoey, Mila, and Atticus), and adopted dogs (Misty and Teddy).  I enjoy playing basketball, soccer, and playing board/card games. I enjoy learning new skills that can be used to build/repair (working with my hands). I play Fortnite and use it as a way to keep in touch with family in different states.
