Ehsan Azimi is an Assistant Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering and Computer Science. He earned both his M.S. and Ph.D. in Computer Science from Johns Hopkins University, where he developed a passion for synergistic human-AI interactive systems. His research focuses on extended reality, robotics, digital twins and human-centered design. He has developed novel display calibration methods and new user interaction modalities for smart glasses that improve surgical navigation and immersive learning in medicine, manufacturing and other industries. His work has been featured in Engineering Magazine and other media outlets.
In addition, Dr. Azimi’s experience extends to medical imaging, robot-assisted cochlear implant placement, and the development of intraocular robotic snake and needle steering techniques. Before returning to Johns Hopkins, he conducted research at Harvard Medical School, where he innovated a method that improved both the resolution and dynamic range of a medical imaging system.
Dr. Azimi holds multiple patents and has authored over 40 peer-reviewed journal and conference papers. Recognized for his contributions, he was named a Siebel Scholar and received the Provost’s Postdoctoral Fellowship and the Link Fellowship. He has served as a mentor for several students and scholars in their projects and studies. He is also affiliated with the Center for Semiconductor Manufacturing.
